Agnes Judge, a courageous breast cancer survivor and advocate for early detection, recently visited Adventist Health White Memorial’s Cecilia Gonzalez De La Hoya Cancer Center as part of her nationwide tour aimed at raising awareness for breast cancer and the importance of early detection. As she continues her journey across all 50 states, Agnes, who has personally experienced the devastating toll of cancer treatment, is on a mission not only to share her story of survival but to highlight the critical need for holistic support and resources for those navigating the harsh realities of a cancer diagnosis.

During her visit with cancer center nurse practitioner Eva Meyers, Agnes expressed her support for integrating complementary therapies alongside traditional treatments, emphasizing her deep belief that supporting the emotional, mental and spiritual well-being of cancer patients is just as important as their physical care.

The strain of a cancer diagnosis is often felt on many levels, as patients undergo extensive and sometimes debilitating treatments, leaving them not only grappling with their own health challenges but also with the overwhelming pressures of day-to-day life. The financial burden, particularly, can be daunting, as many face difficulties in meeting basic needs while undergoing treatment, which often requires considerable time away from work, travel for appointments and various unforeseen costs. This is why Agnes’ visit and her generous donation to the cancer center’s patient assistance fund are so meaningful. Her support of our patient assistance fund will help provide resources such as transportation and other necessities, which can make a world of difference for families in need.

In addition to her donation, Agnes expressed her gratitude to the dedicated staff at Adventist Health White Memorial for their compassionate care and tireless commitment to the well-being of every patient, underscoring the importance of hospitals like ours in the ongoing fight against cancer.

As Agnes continues her journey across the United States visiting cancer centers in every state, she is not only raising awareness but is also helping to ensure that those who are fighting cancer have the resources they need to face their battles with dignity and support. We at Adventist Health White Memorial are deeply honored to have had the opportunity to host Agnes, and we are incredibly grateful for her generous donation and the remarkable work she is doing to help cancer patients nationwide.
