Inspiring Hope and

Building Change IMPACT REPORT 2024

Our Purpose

The Adventist Health White Memorial Charitable Foundation was incorporated in 1984 and has served as the leader of Adventist Health White Memorial’s fundraising activities, inspiring health, wholeness and hope. We create and sustain philanthropic relationships with donors as our partners.

Our Charitable Foundation

For 40 years, the Adventist Health White Memorial Charitable Foundation has been enhancing Adventist Health White Memorial’s comprehensive medical services and care. The foundation’s board of directors is comprised of a dynamic group of volunteers who support the hospital's mission of improving the health and quality of life of our community

These volunteers support the foundation in raising critical funding through corporate sponsorships, individual donations, estate gifts, grants, special events and more.

Gifts from our community help fund state-of-the-art medical equipment and the hospital’s work in population health, medical research — including Hispanic-focused research — and health education.

Your Gifts at Work

Adventist Health White Memorial Montebello

Thanks to your generosity in 2024, Adventist Health White Memorial Montebello expanded access to care and introduced programs that go beyond medicine to help Montebello’s 60,000 residents through the new Community Well-Being Center.

Modeled after the Community Resource Center in Los Angeles, this new Community Well-Being Center is dedicated to supporting the physical, mental, emotional and social health of Montebello residents through:

  • Food essentials like cereal, canned goods and dry foods were distributed to hungry families facing food insecurity.
  • Health and fitness classes tailored for older adults, empowering them to stay active and improve their quality of life.
  • Diabetes prevention education programs helping families avoid the complications of this pervasive disease.
  • The Healthcare Workforce Development Program was brought to Montebello, giving local youth a clear pathway to rewarding careers in healthcare.

Thank you for believing in our vision and making it a reality. Your gifts mean more resources to help people achieve their full potential, fostering a more inclusive, supportive and equitable community.

PATHWAY TO SUCCESS

Arianna.PNG

"My name is Arianna Jimenez. I’m 18 years old, and I recently graduated from Montebello High School. I just started in the Healthcare Workforce Development Program, and I hope to be a nurse one day.

I remember the story my mom told me. She wanted to be a nurse but was never able to complete her dreams. I’m grateful to start the program because I would love to fulfill the dream that my mom never could."

  • Our initiatives have increased patient access to essential healthcare services, demonstrating our commitment to making healthcare accessible to everyone.
  • Our human resources have been pivotal in this journey, with a dedicated team working tirelessly to implement innovative solutions and partnerships.
  • We’ve invested in technology to streamline operations and improve patient outcomes.
  • The Charitable Foundation had a robust financial performance growth with a revenue of more than $13 million, reflecting the growing demand for our services.

As we look to the future, we remain focused on our mission to provide equitable healthcare access to all, regardless of socioeconomic status. We are committed to continuous improvement and collaboration with stakeholders to address the evolving needs of our communities.

These initiatives will not only improve access to healthcare but also empower patients to take control of their health. We believe that by embracing innovation, we can create a more equitable healthcare system that benefits everyone.

Be curious

When Adrian Preciado, 5, was nonverbal. He understood the world around him but had no way to express himself. That changed when pediatric speech-language pathologist Tracy Coleite introduced him to Augmentative Alternative Communication (AAC).

Be a force for good

We’re grateful for volunteers like Tina Appel and her dog, Belle, from Love on 4 Paws, who bring smiles to our patients and help speed up their recovery.

Rosa Mercado (middle) sitting with Community Resource Center team members
Be welcoming

In December 2021, Rosa Mercado suffered a stroke that paralyzed her right side. She could no longer do what she loved, like work, drive or dance cumbia. Isolated and depressed, she spent two years in physical therapy but remained weak, reliant on a walker and afraid to leave her home for fear of falling.

Be brilliant

Angelique Alvarez joined Adventist Health White Memorial’s Workforce Development program in 2024. Suddenly, Alvarez was forced to move in with her uncle to Encino, California, in September 2023 after her grandmother, with whom she lived, could no longer care for her.
