In The Wildfires' Wake How Our Community Came Together to Provide Aid And Support
In January, devastating wildfires tore through Los Angeles, displacing families and causing widespread destruction. Among those affected were 25 of our associates at Adventist Health White Memorial, with six tragically losing their homes.
One associate shared, “Our home in Altadena was completely destroyed, and we are now facing the daunting task of rebuilding our lives from scratch.” Despite the immense loss, the support from our community has been a beacon of hope. Thanks to the generosity of many, we’ve been able to provide crucial aid.
Our collective response:
- $9,000 in financial aid was distributed from the Employee Assistance Fund to help associates in need — funds contributed by many of you, exactly for moments like this.
- We collaborated with the Mission 和 Spiritual Care team to provide spiritual counsel, 和 with the Human Resources Department to provide information about available resources to impacted employees.
- The White Memorial Church of Seventh-day Adventists became a donation center for food and essential items.
This crisis has shown the strength and compassion of our colleagues and neighbors. While recovery will take time, Adventist Health White Memorial remains committed to helping rebuild lives. Your continued generosity — whether through donations, volunteering or simply offering support — makes all the difference.
“Each day seems like it’s getting better. We are grateful to have the community’s support,” said an impacted associate, capturing the sense of hope that is slowly but surely returning.
Thank you all for your commitment in caring for our associates at Adventist Health White Memorial.
